5 Tips for your New Years Getaway

Happy New Year from Road Angels

Aussies love to pack up the tent, a few mates and an esky full of beers and Wahu branded gear for New Year celebrations. Whether it’s down to the beach, into the country or simply to visit family, the vast Australian landscape means extended road trips are often part of the picture.

We’ve created a list based on our own experiences that will help you shape a stress-free, safe and all around hoot of a road trip.

1. Make sure your vehicle is up for it – tires should be inflated to the correct pressure, fluid at the proper level, a functional spare tire and a full tank of gas. Getting caught out, half an hour in with a blown fuse might be the most frustrating experience of your life.

2. Music – The passenger seat is THE dedicated music player. Have him/her create a playlist and control it during the drive. Never distract the driver with rubbish tunes. It might just save your ears.

3. Don’t drive on E – Empty that is. Fill up at each petrol station preferably between half and a quarter tank left. You never know how long the next stretch of road will be, and going till the fuel light pops up isn’t helping anyone.

4. Snacks and Zaps – Stock up on water, groceries, munchies and whatever else you need before you leave. This will often be the difference between hungry, grumpy passengers and your run of the mill backseat snoozer. Also, jumper cables. Go buy some.

5. Speedbelts – Crossing state lines doesn’t mean speed limits no longer apply. Observe local laws and pay homage to the communities you pass through; a respectful camper is a happy camper.

Wishing you a Happy New year from the Road Angels Team!
